    Updates!

We didn’t write the interview with Kevin yet, but we’re gonna do it this week.

We went to the Take Action Tour, and I’m going to review the show, and the venue after this.

We talked to Travis after the show, and got an email so we can conduct the interview. =)

email questions you want to ask him to letsgetfancy@hotmail.com

The Rocket Summer’s album comes out on February 23. I bet you’re excited.

i havent been researching lately, so thats all i got for updates.

    It’s been awhile…

Okay. So I know it’s been a while. I apologize. I’ve been swamped with school, Justine too, and finals are this week. I promise that after this week, the interview with Kevin will make it up. Also, we didn’t go to We The Kings because Travis never got back to us, but fret not my friends, we will try again in February. So there’s been a lot happening, but I’m probably not going to get to everything on this post. Also this will probably be the only post until I get back home because once I finish this I’m going to start studying for finals.

So, We The Kings released their new cd, Smile Kid, on Tuesday. It’s really good. I promise. I’m listening to it right now. If you buy it at Walmart you get a free membership to their fan club, and a chance to meet them, I don’t have the details because I bought my copy at Target before I found out about that great deal.

Kisses For Kings, a band I think I’ve mentioned atleast a few times, put an EP teaser up on their myspace page. www.myspace.com/kissesforkings. So go check it out. Maybe I’ve told you, maybe I haven’t, so I’m going to tell you. I found them because it’s Tony Lovato’s [Mest] new band, and Mest is my favorite band so I was excited to hear his new stuff. I really like it. I actually have one of their songs on my myspace profile playlist, Risk It All, an you can listen to that song on their myspace too.

So while I’m on the subject, if you’re a Mest fan you can still buy stuff on www.mestmerch.com. I know I put that website down on my Christmas list and next to it I wrote “pretty much anything fom this site” and I’m expecting the cd for Christmas, since I strongly suggested for my mom to buy it the other day. haha.

Oh and I forgot to mention this before, We The Kings got an official website! www.wethekingsmusic.com. Also they announced a headlining tour for february-march time period. You can check out the tour dates when you check out their new website! =)

Another thing you may be excited about, and I know I am, is Warped Tour ‘10! The dates are up at www.warpedtour.com so go check it out, they’re announcing bands soon. =) yay!

This may make you think I’m a little behind, but am I the only who didn’t know about Armor For Sleep breaking up?! I go through phases with them, but love them. While putting a crapload of music on my Itunes last weekend, I came across What To Do When You Are Dead, and I’ve been listening to it so much, and I somehow stumbled across an article about their break up! I asked Justine if I had known about that [because sometimes i find out that stuff and freak out then forget then find it again and freak out again] but she didn’t even know about it, which means I probably didn’t either. Bummer.

So Quietdrive does a stickam chat every Wednesday at 7pm CST. Which, if you live on the east coast like me, is actually 8pm, and if you live on the west coast is like 5pm? I think. I’m not 100% about that one though. So they’re pretty funny, and they usually play a song or two, and sometimes have guests, and play games. Because of my internet connection here in the dorms I can’t watch it because it lags too much, but if Justine watches it while we skype, I can listen to it on hers and watch it on mine. and yes, we’ve done this. Also Quietdrive is doing a myspace contest, the winners could get a phone call from the guys, all you have to do is put a widget playing their music on your profile and then send them an email with some of your info in it. http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=3033909&blogId=520913196. Wicked easy, so go do it. =)

Today I came across two Taking Back Sunday b-sides from the vinyl version of New Again? I think. Anyway, I don’t buy vinyl because its too expensive when you can’t even use it haha, so they should’ve released these on cd. anyways. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmq50zHnWHE&feature=related,

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMluo9pIR1c

the second one I almost feel like should’ve gone on Louder Now. But the first one is really good. well they’re both really good.

This month’s AP comes with My Chemical Romance posters =)

Tomorrow at 1pm the presale for New Found Glory’s first album ten year reunion tour. http://newfoundglory.frontgatetickets.com/

I think that’s all my brain can come up with folks.

I hope that will hold you over until next week. [If I survive finals]

    Happy Holidays =)

    The Space, Hamden CT

So we made it to the Quietdrive show last night. We saw a total of six bands, and I’m going to write up a little review for you all once I get back to school and I’m all settled. Overall the show was pretty good, I’ve spent months trying to find the name of the band and song that I used to listen to, and they happened to be openers. Kevin was nice enough to sit down for an interview after the show, and Justine will be writing that soonish, also we have tons of pictures, so we’ll post them as soon as we can. We also are going to request a Hometown Hereo interview with a band we met last night from Boston.

But I’ll explain that when I write my review, this post isn’t about the music. This post is about the venue. The Space in Hamden, CT is just that, a space. Tiny, only about the size of a house basement, tickets consist of a hand stamp, and the stage is just a step off of the floor. Though they are well staffed, security is at a minimum, they don’t really interfere between the fans and the band, which makes for the show to be a bit more enjoyable to not have to reach around a security guard to grab the hand of your favorite artist.

If you’re looking for an intimate venue, we’ve decided being there is almost like being at a party, the band is playing, and theres a food bar in the back serving all types of food. The bands are allowed to socialize with the crowd. The only drawback for a band may be a lack of people. There was probably 30 people tops in there last night, but it was decently full. Several of the opening bands introduced themselves to us, and everyone else, striking up conversation, and you could see Quietdrive lurking in the back of the venue talking to some people, and watching the openers.

The sets are short. Five or six songs for the openers, eight or ten for the headliner. There are comfy couches lining the walls for people to sit on, and tables and chairs in the middle of the room. This venue is cute, and cozy. And perfect if a band is looking to play to a small intimate crowd that they can have fun with. As for the concert goer, this place is perfect if you’re hoping to meet the band, and also parking is a breeze, it has it’s own parking lot, rather large, and doesn’t charge.

Over all, this is a venue Justine and I would like to frequent, however its about 2hrs and 30mins from home, so we probably wont. We are going to search for a cozy, intimate venue like this in Boston, and around Western Massachusetts. This venue is even perfect if you’re bored on a Friday night, and want to go out with a friend and hear live music.

Check it out if you’re from the area, and haven’t been. If you’re not, and a band you want to see is playing, trust me it’s worth the drive. =)

That’s all for now, I’m going to try and get the review up in a timely manner, but I’m still operating without a personal computer.

    Later Folks. =)

    Techinal Difficulties

So hey everyone! I hope by now you’ve all gone and bought The Rocket Summer’s EP! =)

Well I’m posting this to let you know that we may be a little behind on posting some stuff. As you may have noticed, I tend to run the tumblr, and Justine tends to run the twitter. Well my laptop wont turn on, and I have to send it to the maunfacturer to get it fixed, so unless I’m at the library, I wont be posting.

But, I’ll try and feed Justine some info, the problem is, I have no life, therefore spend all my time online, that’s really how I find out about all these tours, CDs, bands, everything. AP helps too!

So Justine is going to the AP tour thursday, so hopefully she’ll remember to post some feedback here! =)

And we’ve officially got our tickets to Quietdrive, and hopefully we’ll have our first full-fledged artist interview on Sunday with Kevin [and anyone else who wishes to participate] from Quietdrive.

So I went on myspace today, to listen to music, which i dont really do often, but given the circumstances, I don’t have itunes, and I had a message from a band. I went and listened to them, and I like them. So I asked them to let us interview them for you guys. Either way, go check them out. http://www.myspace.com/therealyou

That’s pretty much it. I’m going to hopefully get some good pics at Quietdrive, but wont be able to post them until I get my laptop back.

    Later guys!

    STRAYLIGHT RUN 11/4/09

my mom, in not one of her finer hours, accidently bought me two tickets to Straylight Run on wednesday, instead of quietdrive, which she did eventually purchase. Not that I dont like Straylight Run, but its near impossible for me to get to The Space in Hamden, CT on wednesday night.

on that note. im selling the tickets for $15 each, theres two. we just want to make the $30 back that we accidently purchased.

    anyone interested?

    Excitement!

    Hey everyone!

I think I may have forgotten to mention that All Time Low released their new album last week.

And who’s excited about the new Rocket Summer stuff?! I know I am! Head over to http://www.altpress.com/media to listen to a song!

The Summer Obsession put up episode 3 of recording their album a few days ago, definitely entertaining i’ve already watched. you can find them on youtube, or head over to their blog http://tso-thesummerobsession.blogspot.com/ to get the link.

I also watched some funny videos by Taking Back Sunday on youtube today, just search “Taking Back Sunday on tour” and Taking Back Sunday on tour w/All American Rejects” trust me, it’s worth it. I also watched a funny video Gabe Saporta posted on his blog, www.gabesaporta.com.

Its creeping up to our interview with Kevin Truckenmiller from quietdrive, and we’re very excitedd! =] If you haven’t listened to Quietdrive’s new EP, head over to www.quietdrivemusic.com and take a listen. also there you can listen to Deliverance, which i own, and trust me, it’s good.

Also a few days before the Quietdrive show, Justine is heading out to the APtour, and right now she’s signed up for the Santi’s Little Helpers meet&greet, so you can probably expect some pictures of her and The Academy Is…, and I’m sure she’ll post all about meeting them, hopefully we can get them to agree to do an interview next time they come around!

Before we shipped off to college, we went to a concert, sort of a farewell for now. We saw Cobra Starship. Outside, while we were waiting with our friends to meet the band, we met this guy who had us listen to his band, and we we’re impressed. So I did a little digging, and found them on myspace, and twitter, and they have agreed to interview. We are in the process of setting it up. They’re called I Hate My Ex and they are from Worcester, MA, which is like 20 minutes north of Oxford, where Justine & I from, or 5 depending on how fast you drive. So head over to http://www.myspace.com/ihatemyexfans to give them a listen.

It just occured to me that I want you guys to send me pictures of your concert experiences, but we haven’t posted any of ours. So I’m going to post the cobra pics, and i have some from we the kings, and i think a few other concerts too. and i bet justine does too. =]

    Talk to you guys later!

p.s. I just wanted to let you know that this post took like an hour because I’m also downloading last night’s Dexter since we don’t have showtime at school. =/

The Summer Obsession is finishing episode 3 today, so head over to their myspace www.myspace.com/thesummerobsession and you can watch episodes 1 and 2 if you missed them, and keep your eyes peeled to twitter to catch when they release the new one.

Fall Out Boy released a new song yesterday! I’m going to reblog Banana’s Music Club in a minute so you can listen. or if you’d rather, head over to www.falloutboyrock.com to listen to it

We have some good things happening over here at Lets Get Fancy.

We have set up an interview with this amazing up and coming band named Quietdrive. About a year ago they were an opening band for MEST and now they are going on their own U.S. fall tour. And honestly they were one of the best opening bands I’ve ever seen, I hardly ever like openers. They have a new CD coming out and after Deliverence I expect only the best.

    check out Quietdrive  @ http://www.quietdrivemusic.com/pre-order

and preorder their new EP Close Your Eyes
